I went to the Roman Forum today as a part of a class tour, but wasn't smart enough to bring my camera with me, so that will remain another trip for another day. Hopefully I will have some images of the coliseum up soon, as my ticket there expires in less than 48 hours. For now, here are some pics from yesterday's walk:

Walking the streets
This is actually from yesterday; we took our first walk as a class to some of the sites in Rome that would become a part of our first project. I'll say this first: walking through Rome is tiring. There is so much to see that it feels like I'm not seeing anything at all; thank god I have several months here to fully absorb the culture and architecture. Speaking Italian is also a challenge on its own. I have put forth an effort into a little speech here and there, but it's mostly greetings, goodbyes, and "could you please give me this" at the bar (café). And just getting around completely wipes you out, especially if you're not used to it. I would love to be out more but with the amount of walking it takes, two explorations a day are about all I can muster (less with sunburn).

Hi Chris! I heard from Ken that you had fun in London and looks like you are settling in in Rome. Remember, when in Rome...uh I forget the rest of the saying.
You saw the Colesium, maybe will see the Parthenon?...but what I want to is whether the rumor about Italian women not shaving their armpits is really ture or not. Get your priorities straight!
Anyway, have fun man...have some wine on the mediterranean coast but beware of harpies and titans and cyclops and all that sort of stuff. I hear the Chimeras are bad this year too.

I'm trying my best to "do as the Romans do", but you gotta give me time. : ) I will probably see the Pantheon sometime soon, if not through class then at least by my own volition. The non-shaving is a complete lie... although deodorant seems to be a "if you want to" thing around here. The wine is cheap as well as the beer so we've been taking advantage of that, plus flights are cheap so we're trying to plan a few weekend excursions (we have three-day weekends). Thanks for the comments, you take care!
